Lessons Learned

What went well?

  • rmapi worked reliably for bulk operations

  • Folder structure mirrors domus-captures perfectly

  • PDF generation workflow established and documented

  • weasyprint handles large documents (1000+ pages) efficiently

  • Cross-referencing between digital worklogs and handwritten notes works well

What could be improved?

  • rmapi mv creates nested folders when destination exists - need to move contents, not container

  • PDF conversion tools (rmc, rmrl) have build issues on Arch - weasyprint works for text-based PDFs

  • Initial PDF generation takes time (~2-3 minutes for full year)

Future enhancements

  • Automate weekly PDF regeneration via cron/systemd timer

  • Explore OCR for handwritten note extraction back to digital

  • Add reMarkable MAC to iPSK for WiFi sync (blocked - need MAC address from device)

  • Consider bidirectional sync (handwritten → digital transcription)

  • Add monthly/quarterly review pages to PDF
