Preliminary Observations

  • The P16g has three display-related incidents in one month (INC-2026-05-23-001, INC-2026-05-23-002, INC-2026-06-25-002) plus the WAYLAND-1 phantom monitor. The hybrid GPU topology (i915 + nvidia-open) on Wayland is a persistent instability surface.

  • A complete system freeze (no tty, no SSH, no network) indicates a kernel-level fault, not a compositor crash. This is more severe than the PSR hang (INC-2026-05-23-002), which only affected one display pipe.

  • The investigation should determine whether a safe disconnect procedure exists (e.g., disabling the monitor in Hyprland before physical disconnect) or whether a kernel/driver fix is required.
